The Rising Tide Beginning Band

 

Who is this for?

  • ​​the absolute beginner,

  • those beginning a new instrument,

  • those returning on an old instrument after a long,

       long time. 

 

 

What to expect:

  • First Term: Small group lessons with qualified instructors on how to play your instrument and read music.

  •  Second Term: A full band experience under the leadership of Julie Beggs.

  • Individual help from volunteers.

  • Help finding the right instrument for you to play, and..

  • A chance for you to lean new skills, make new friends, and have lots and lots of fun!

Accidental Jazz 
A different kind of  Big Band Jazz Band.

We are a no pressure, no audition big band community band.  

 

We play a wide variety of music styles - funk, rock, swing, standards, bebop...and everything jazz in between.

if you:

  • play and instrument commonly found in a big band, and

  • can play at a high school level or above

  • and you love to play jazz or

  • would love to learn to play jazz, then...

Come out and give us a try.

 

No previous jazz band experience 

necessary.

 JULIE BEGG 

Jullie Begg, music director fot the Rising Tide Beginning and and the Accidental Jazz Band.

Julie  is the founder and owner of Accent Music Studious, in North Vancouver.  She is a teacher and active clinician in North Vancouver and through the lower mainland.

She is a professional performer, soloist. and  orchestral freelancer, here and internationally. ( She has  even performed for Queen Elizabeth.)

She is experienced, qualified and passionate about teaching adults to learn to play an instrument or to become a better musician.

 

Her love of music and her love for teaching music is there for all to see in every rehearsal. She knows how to teach - how to say it or show it in a way that you will get it.  With Julie, you will succeed.

Rising Tide Beginning Band

Next Gig:  TBA. (The RT will play at least one concert, and will also join the West Vancouver Pops Band for at least one rehearsal in the spring.

North Shore bands and orchestras that are looking for new members.

West Vancouver POP's Band    - mid intermediate.  Many former Rising Tide members.  

West Vancouver Concert Band  -  Intermediate +. Exp. high school, college, community, or youth band recommended.

North Vancouver Community Band.  - low to mid intermediate.  All skill levels welcome.

Lynn Valley Black Bear Band.  - intermediate level +

Deep Cove Jazz Band.   Traditional jazz band.

Freddy Fuddpucker and the Rolling Clones    Marching band.  Good skill level required. 

Ambleside Orchestra    Advanced repertoire.
